Our National Hormone Laboratory specializes in studies of nearly every reproductive hormone. The standardized Creighton Model charting gives insights that are otherwise not tested for. Since 1976, Dr. Hilgers’ research has explored new methods for treating infertility and other women’s health conditions — including  over 238 professional books, book chapters, poster sessions, peer-reviewed medical articles, videos, and other presentations.

Dr. Hilgers’ Pivotal Discoveries

Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System (CrMS)

The Universal Language if the Creighton Model System is the greatest discover in the field of natural methods in over 70–90 years. One of Dr. Hilgers’ pivotal discoveries is the standardized observation of menstrual and fertility cycles, known as the CrMS. Women chart with the system for gynecologic health maintenance, and couples use it to achieve or avoid pregnancy. Trained physicians can read a woman’s CrMS chart universally — this is the key to unraveling the mysteries of the menstrual and fertility cycle.

Natural Procreative Technology (NaProTechnology®)

NaProTechnology is a researched and published women’s health science based on CrMS observations, which provides objective information on the cycle. After using the CrMS to telegraph abnormalities, NaProTechnology treats problems cooperatively with the procreative and gynecologic systems while respecting the dignity of women, couples, and pre-born children.

Pelvioplasty

Pelvioplasty is a surgical technique, developed at the Saint Paul VI Institute, which eliminates, for the most part, the scar tissue that forms following surgery done in the removal of endometriosis and other surgeries. The Saint Paul VI Institute has now become the “Home of Pelvioplasty.”

Dr. Hilgers’ visionary leadership recognized the importance of the establishment of a professional infrastructure of both Creighton Model FertiltyCare Teachers and Creighton Model Medical Consultants — Physicians — to provide only authentic Creighton Model FertilityCare Teaching and NaProTechnology researched medical and surgical protocols for true hope and healing for the countless women and couples in need of answers and solutions to their unique needs:

The growth of this effort has demonstrated that no matter the continent, country, culture and language, women and couples exhibit the same need to have their personal questions and concerns addressed with answers that meet their unique needs.

Convention medicine’s approach with the BCP, IVF, etc is falling very short of their expectations and hope.

For this first time in the history of interest and promotion of natural methods, a professional educational and medical approach has been established to truly serve women who have the right to know their menstrual and fertility cycles and address their individual educational and medical needs.

Ethical Foundation

Over 50 years after the introduction of the birth control pill, medical science has made little attempt to understand fertility and the menstrual cycle. Women’s healthcare today focuses on masking abnormal symptoms and problems. This results in medical practices such as in vitro fertilization, which makes new life by destroying life. Thomas W. Hilgers, MD is Director of the Institute’s Academic Programs and its National Center for Women’s Health. In 1968, Pope Paul VI presented Catholic Church teachings on love and life in the encyclical Humanae Vitae. At that time, natural methods of fertility regulation were insufficient for couples to live these teachings effectively and joyfully. This challenge prompted Dr. Hilgers to begin scientific research in natural fertility regulation. His research brought forth the revolutionary Creighton Model FertilityCare System and the new women’s health science of NaProTECHNOLOGY®.
